So the flyers got swept by the same team that barely beat the Montreal Canadiens. The Canadiens made that series last into overtime of game 7 with a stunning goal by P.K. Subban.
The Flyers really disappointed me. What a weak showing. The Bruins weren't that good either.
The only thing I hope is that the Lightning will be ready to take on the Bruins. It's our last hope for vengeance this year. Marty and Vince need to fight for us all.
I do get a little too invested in the playoffs sometimes.
But let's just say that the Lightnings did what the Canadiens did last year. They beat both the Captitals and the Penguins. Granted, the Penguins had a depleted squad compared to last year, they still fought harder than the Captials.
Let me say a few words about the Capitals. The Capitals GM describes Bruce Boudreau as a good coach and doesn't differentiate a regular season coach and a playoff coach. But from my perspective, Bruce Boudreau isn't a playoff coach and as long as the Capitals will keep him, the Capitals will continually fail in the playoffs.
There is a reason why some teams manage to go far in the playoffs. Take the Lightnings and the Canadiens of last year for example. What helped them was good coaching. Alexander Semin decided he wanted to play in the World Championship more than the playoffs, that's a problem. As far as I am concerned, Semin needs to go as well if the Capitals want any success in the playoffs. I used to hate Ovechkin, but now I'm starting to feel sorry for the guy.
I heard somewhere that Michel Therrien would be a good candidate to coach the Capitals and I agree with that assessement. Therrien is a real defensive coach and he does coach unlike Boudreau or Claude Julien.
Closing statement:
Capitals have the right ingredients to win, they just need to get rid of the rotten vegetables (Semin, Boudreau and to some extent do something about Backstrom). Lightnings need to win the next round just because I would be devastated if the Bruins made it to the Stanley Cup Finals.
